Cashier no9 — To The Death of Fun……

Those of you who know me, know I love my music and spend hours looking and listening to new music, now I came across this band while in my favorite shop, Rough Trade East in Brick Lane, its a fantastic place to discover and buy new music. One of those old fashioned music shops where you can have a listen to the music before you have to buy. So off I go armed with a list of bands to find, and come away with some extras too that I did not expect to buy.

Yesterday was a little different as I only decided to go at the last minute but being a good boy scout had my wants list with me but really went to see what I could find. Low and behold I came across a band that were new to me called Cashier no9 and they are amazing. Their debut album has just been released and what a gem it is. This is an amazing album well worth the money and a must for any music fan.

Well how do I describe Cashier no9, well this isnt easy, guess you  could say they sound as if they could come from either Manchester or California but infact they are from Belfast. Their sound is maybe a cross with The Byrds, The Stone Roses, The Beach Boys or The Flaming Lips. Yet with their rich vocal harmonies, bold guitar textures and supremely catchy melodies, they’ve created a sound that’s indeterminably none of these yet equally vibrant

The album has been on my Ipod and cd player on repeat now for nearly 24 hours and i am still not bored and with each play something new pops up and this is a fantastic album. Please consider this when you are next spending on music but I guess this will never make it into the supermarket bargain isle. I had to pay £12.99 for my copy but as they say you get what you pay for and I most certainly got great value. A great album and go on treat yourself.

My Final Day………At last its here…..well almost….

Well its happening, Well really Monday just gone was my final day and I officially finish next Thursday afternoon. But today will be my last visit to the office. I was made redundant on Monday, it was all very amicable and seeing as I have been under the weather since April I am pleased as I am able to start a new life (I will blog about this over the coming weekend)……
I was expecting Monday to be tough and a fight but i say it was not, they were very kind and understanding and it went very smoothly. I have left on good terms and there are a number of people I will miss and hope to keep in touch with but there are also a number of people I will be pleased never to see again…..
My colleagues where supposed to organize a meet up in the pub at lunchtime today and let me know but nothing was done. I am pleased as this now allows me the time today to meet up with other people and have a drink with them, these are the people i will miss. I still have a few people to chat with in the office and say good bye to as well…..Just wasn’t enough hours in the day on Monday and didn’t leave until 8pm….
The main reason for today’s visit is for the pre planed visit to the Oval with the boss to watch Surrey vs Middlesex in a T20 game, went last summer and it was a fantastic night, so tonight should be good, plenty of beer (very unusual for me) plus a curry afterwards and probably a ride home on the first train in the morning….
I am pleased to be going….but it will feel odd after 14 years not working for a while and as I said there are some people who I will miss loads but then there are some who I wont even think about again…..But as I write this I can hear the rain crashing against the roof so please rain go away and dont spoil my evening of cricket…..

Chub……..

A selection of photographs i took this afternoon on the River Isis, the river is in a very poor condition and there was a large amount of rubbish in the river too which is so sad to see. Why do people do this its not their river. The Chub I found today where ready to spawn and from the photos you can see the fish, and on the last couple of photographs the female (Larger fish) decides she has had enough of the boys and darts away creating rather a large splash……

Rather a large splash and when you thing the water only just covered the top of the Chub….but she was not ready and the boys had to be told…..Nature is fun to watch….Any fishermen reading this please dont ask as I will not reveal the location….

Thank you for reading my blog…..
